2 Month Check Up

Today was Savanah's 2 month check up and she had to get shots :( When she got there she was so happy and looking around, then that all changed pretty quick after those pitiful shots! I was one sad mommy watching my baby hurt and hearing her cry (that was a different kind of cry from anything I had ever heard). After her shots I held her and cried too. I dread the next time she has to have that done...it just breaks my heart! I know its good for her though, and just something she has to do! She actually got over it quicker than I did! She didn't fuss much at all the rest of the day (I did give her some Tylenol prior). On a happier note, she is growing up so fast...my guess was right, she now weighs 11 lbs, 6 oz! Such a growth spurt from only being 6 lbs when I delivered! She is now 23 inches long (was 18 3/4 at birth). I do have a couple of pictures from her visit today that I will add to this post.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Week 8

Pictures from week 8! :)

Here is a picture with Riley and Savanah.
Don't they both look so sweet with their paci's?
I have a feeling he will be quite protective over her as they get older!

"Dooda" getting a closer look!

So I asked Macy if she could watch Savanah for just a few minutes while I ran downstairs...then when I returned, found her IN the crib with her. TOO Funny! They will love this picture in years to come!

Savanah has her 2 month check up tomorrow morning with Dr.Baliga. I think she has to get some shots :(
Please pray for her that she has a good check up and if she has to get shots, they dont hurt too bad!
I can't wait to see how much she weighs! I'm gonna make a guess and say...... 11 lbs!?!?!
I guess we will find out soon enough if I am right!

Prayers

Just thought I could squeeze one more in before bed..."prayer". I'm asking that all of you blog readers out there to please pray for certain individuals I will mention in this blog. To begin with, it is no secret that Savanah's daddy and I are no longer together. We met last year and soon after, I became pregnant. Regardless of being 26, I was still not ready to have a baby. I had dreamed of getting married, THEN having a family. From the moment I found out, I knew abortion wasn't an option for me. Yes, it came to my mind, but left just as quick as it came. I knew even though this wasn't the way I personally had planned for my life to go, there was a REASON for this, so I moved forward. I must also give credit to my awesome parents for being so great with the shocking news...their love and support helped me to really enjoy my pregnancy and take care of myself and the life inside of me. They never for a minute made me feel like I was any less of a person because this had happened. This brings me to "God's Plan". God has a plan for all of us...he knows it from the day we are born. I truly believe Savanah was in his plan for me all along. I ask that you pray for Savanah and I...and I also ask that you pray for Savanah's daddy.
Aside from us, I ask you to pray for a couple who I am very close to. A couple who has been there for me through good times and bad. This particular couple I would like to leave anonymous. They are struggling with conceiving a chlid of their own. They have been trying for quite some time and sometimes I can tell are really at a low point...but that is completely understandable. It makes me feel guilty and wonder "why did we not even try but they are trying so hard and cant?" There is no doubt in my mind that one day they will be parents, wether it be with their own or by adopting a child that desperately needs someone to love and nurture them. A child of someone who could have been in a situation like mine, but decided it was too much for them to handle. So, please pray for this anonymous couple I have mentioned.
Next on my list, I ask you to pray for Lindsay and Jeremy Jones. Their story is public so I feel its ok to mention their names. Lindsay and I went to Junior High/High School together. Her and her husband are wonderful christians who we should all look up to. They welcomed a little boy into their lives in April but he went to be with God in August. No one can personally imagine what they are going through unless you have been through it yourself. I can't imagine life without Savanah and cherish every day I have with her. I know like the anonymous couple I mentioned, Lindsay and Jeremy will be parents again and will be blessed in so many ways!

Thanks for your prayers :)

All About Names

So I guess I am in the blogging mood tonight and wanted to share something else that is on my mind besides the whole facebook situation which is "All About Names". Some of you know where I'm going with this, and YES its about Savanah! There is something mentioned about this in an earlier blog. As you will notice if you look at the spelling of her name, it is spelled with 1 "n". Yes, I meant to do this, I am her mama ...I can spell it how I want! I guess some people just dont understand how sensitive I am about it, some people think its "no big deal". Well, yes it is a big deal. If you write Savannah, Savana, Savanna... you obviously are not referring to my child. I have always loved this name and when I mentioned it in the beginning to her daddy, he liked it too. But instead of spelling it like the city in Georgia, we decided to make it unique and spell it different. We also loved her middle name. Most of the time you will see it spelled Carson or Carsyn... but again, we wanted the spelling of that to be different, so agreed to spell it Karsyn. It seems her middle name is spelled right by others...maybe its because the spelling is so different- seems just one letter throws people off, so her first name is spelled incorrectly 99% of the time. Now thats off my chest, remember her name is spelled   S A V A N A H.   By the way, she is 2 months "new" today!  She has her 2 month dr appt on friday...cant wait to see how much she weighs! Hope everyone has a great week...only 2 days left 'til the weekend! :)

Facebook

Many of you are probably wondering why I dont post pictures of Savanah on facebook. Some of you I have told my reasons to in person, but to set the record straight...its just simply because I dont want to. Before I became pregnant, and even during my pregnancy, I would post all kinds of pictures...family, friends, my pregnancy each step of the way, etc. It wasnt until Savanah was born that a "protective" instinct kicked in. I suddenly became more aware of my surroundings and not worrying about MY life anymore, I was worrying about HERS. I am a big fan of facebook as it helps me to stay in touch with a lot of people. For example, my sister. She lives in Warner Robins, GA (8 hours away). So of course we can't talk on the phone every day or every week so staying in touch via facebook has been wonderful! I also have other out of town/ out of state relatives and friends that I can keep in touch with this way. I am a firm believer in the safety of such websites and do NOT accept someone I don't know. The pictures are a different story, I just dont want them to get in the wrong hands (some how, some way)...and with facebook, there is no security set on them. I saw on the news a few months ago that a childs picture was on a billboard in another country (this picture was retrieved without permission from someone's personal facebook!) Kinda scary huh?? So with that being said, I created this blog and enjoy updating it so that everyone can keep up with whats going on with Savanah and see how much she is growing. If you will notice, left and right click are disabled on these pictures so that they cannot be copied. I know I will not always be able to protect Savanah from everything she is faced with in life, but while I have control over the situation now, thats how it will remain. :)

Colic, Baby Acne, and more!

These days I feel like an expert on certain baby topics...I'm sure lots of moms do when their baby has something going on and they finally get a solution! For starters, Colic. It all started when she was about 4 weeks old...every night for about 3-4 hours she would scream (usually from 7-11pm). When it first started, we switched her formula...then found out that wasn't the problem. Every night when it would start up, I'd go down my list of things to try (advice given from Dr.Baliga as well as family and friends). The list included Mylicon gas drops, walking around with her, a warm bath, leg exercises, laying her across my knees to put pressure on her belly, putting her in her swing, etc. I did it all. Finally after about 2 weeks of this, I got advice to put the gas drops in ALL of her bottles...makes sense because then the gas wouldn't build up. Finally, a solution! It was like magic! We no longer have a problem with colic...well, except for what we like to call "lap colic". She really likes to be held and will cry if you lay her down...but then suddenly when I pick her back up, she stops. I'll let ya know if I come up with a solution for that one in another blog :)
Next, Baby Ance! Savanah started up with this around week 4 as well. At her visit with Dr.Baliga we discussed it and he told me not to worry, that it was normal and should go away on its on. Well, I am a typical mommy worrier and when it kept getting worse and worse, I called back and he told me to try getting some 1% hydrocortizone cream. So I went to the drugstore and got some and within 2 days it was completely gone! Another thing to check off my list! So if any of you mommys out there are having issues with either of these 2, I hope my experience has helped. Sometimes the solutions can be so simple (but I do understand what works for my baby may not work for all).
I just cant believe how quickly she is growing. I remember people always saying "enjoy it because they grow up so fast"...boy were they right! I haven't taken any of it for granted though. I spend a lot of time with her, take lots of pictures, and lots of videos. Matter of fact, I have taken a picture of her every day since she was born. At LEAST 1, if not 100. I haven't missed a day yet! I will be really upset if I do :( I keep telling everyone she will think I am crazy when shes older and she looks back at the digital CDs and sees separate folders for each day and each month! I have captured so many wonderful, sweet moments that I will cherish for a lifetime! Just this past weekend, Savanah attended 2 festivals (1 being Spring Hope's annual Pumpkin Festival and the 2nd being the Wendell Harvest Festival). October 3 was quite a milestone day for her...she laughed out loud (sometimes I would think she was but then it would turn into a fuss or either she'd just have the hiccups)...but this was a real laugh :) She also slept 7 hours straight during the night! Thats a big deal for a 7 week old! Can't wait to see what happens next! I love this child more than anything in the world!:) I will be sure to gather a group of pictures from weeks 5-7 to post in another blog!
